Bell & Partners

We have used Bell & Partners for over 20 years. I have always held this practice in high esteem until a recent visit with our 7 month old puppy.
Hetty was a bouncy puppy full of life, interested in everybody & everything. On Thurs 7th Dec, she was off her food and had upset tummy, I made an appointment to see one of the vets at B&Ps, the vet looked at Hetty, dismissively saying, oh its probably change of food (!?) she asked if I was insured, sold me something to put on her food, & I was told if no better come back tomorrow. Hetty’s condition worsened, so I returned to vet on Fri. Again the vet asked if I was insured, she then took blood tests, results showed all clear but white blood count low and a little dehydrated so Hetty was put on a drip for about 4 hours, I was told to pick her up at 5pm.
Ross released Hetty back to me & said, bring her back at 9am tomorrow (Sat) to go back on a drip. (Why was Hetty sent home? I trusted these qualified people and didn’t question this decision).
Hetty passed away outside the vets on Sat morning. With no explanation from the vet as to what caused Hettys death, I asked the receptionist how do I know what to put on the insurance form, the reply was,”don’t worry the vet will put something down”. Disgraceful.
We have never heard anymore from Bell & Partners except to collect Hettys ashes.
It was left to the insurance company to informed us that Hetty had passed away due to gastroenteritis.
Apparently, this can be a common complaint in puppies, it is easily recognised, treatable and curable.
We have been left utterly heartbroken over our loss, and I have felt nothing but guilt for letting our little puppy down.
Needless to say we have now changed vets.
